I often pray that Tyler will grow up right despite my many imperfections. Tonight, he demonstrated that he is listening and remembering some of the things I say. I got a call from my Dad tonight telling me that my Grandma Thurgood had passed away. She was
wonderful. I hope to be just like her as a Grandma. Bernice Flitton Thurgood played a
lively harmonica, always sent me a birthday card with a
personalized poem, kept moving and cheerful despite being a widow for over 13 years, told some great jokes, and made you feel
so loved. I saw her on Christmas morning and she was as warm and happy as ever.
Of course I was sad and crying over the news of her passing. Tyler saw me crying and said, "Mom, because of Heavenly Father and his angels, she will live. Don't be sad. You can be happy." You are right Tyler. Thank you.
Here is my Grandma Thurgood with Tyler and Hannah shortly after their births. I sure loved her. She was the good that came from the Thurgood family!

Sorry for your loss, Erin. She sounds like a great lady -- the same way I feel about my grandmothers. Tyler's words are so precious!! That is one of those rare moments when all your hard work pays off, and you get to witness it!
You described Grandma Thurgood perfectly! She really was such a happy and caring Grandma. And I love what Tyler said to you - he has such a tender little heart. Love him!
What a lovely woman!!! I think you are well on your way to being like her- except that I have yet to receive a personalized poem from you. I hope you find the peace you need because everything your sweet boy said is true. What a wonderful thing for her to be active and enjoying life right up to the end!
I'm sorry to hear your grandmother passed away. What Tyler said is just precious, though. I'm glad you wrote the down. You are such a great mama!
Sorry for your loss, Erin. I think death is sad for those of us left behind. But, I love to imagine what those who pass on must be experiencing--what fun the must be having catching up with so many friends and loved ones.
Tyler sounds like he has become a really sweet little boy. We miss you guys, but are glad we are able to keep up on you through the blog.
That Tyler is a very sweet & smart boy!
