An evening with a case book...

Since Steve started law school, he has had to read more cases than I can count. (Okay, not really!) Anyway, he always quizzes me on if I remember a case. I did, afterall, study Political Science for four years! I usually remember the bare facts of most cases. However, yesterday when he asked me about the case Youngstown Sheet Tube Co. v. Sawyer the details were sketchy. I could only remember something about commerce and the President. Being such a smarty pants, Steve informed me that the Supreme Court examined the enumerated vs. implied powers of the President. That got us to talking about about Alexander Hamilton. As we all know, his advocacy of the doctrine of "implied powers" greatly influenced a number of Supreme Court decisions. I was quite proud of myself for remembering that much.

And again, as we all know, you cannot talk about Alexander Hamilton without thinking about this:

It's classic!

Ha! I need to make Jared watch this. Every time Alexander Hamilton comes up (and believe me, in our house he does. That's what happens when you marry an American History geek, people), I always do the "A Bhhrrr" thing and he just looks at me like I'm a freak.

"...you can call us Aaron Burr by the way we're dropping Hamiltons..."

I cannot believe that Tyler has grown up so much since just last summer. Sometimes I wonder why do they have to grow up so fast, but every moment just gets better than the last. It is definitely moments like those that are the reason we have kids.

Definitely a classic commercial by the way, good teaching lesson of why you don't talk while eating a peanut butter sandwich.
