It makes me think

Within the past three months, two of our extended families have lost children. I guess children are so close to me right now that I can't help but ponder over this. I cannot imagine losing a child. My heart just aches for these families right now. My mind keeps repeating all the times in the past day I've lost my temper with Tyler. Thinking of these families losing their children makes me want to truly love every moment with my little loves. They aren't going to stay little for much longer, and I want to love the good and even the frustrating moments.

Not to get too 'preachy' or anything, but I've really been pondering on the birth and sacrifice of our Savior. Seeing these families lose a child, I cannot help but reflect on our Heavenly Father sacrificing his Son. As a parent that is beyond my comprehension. During the Christmas season and with the passing of these two family members, my heart is just full of love and appreciation for the Christ child and my own two children.

Quite the gift

For Hannah's three month birthday today, she gave me a gift. She slept for 12, yes twelve, hours last night. You might think I slept peacefully all night. But as most of you moms know, once you reach the hour when they normally wake up, you are sort of awake wondering when they are going to wake up. Oh well!

Hannah is growing up way too fast. Yesterday I put her on her stomach for 'tummy time' and within about three seconds, she had flipped onto her back. While it is so fun watching them learn new things and grow, I just wish they would stay a little snuggle buddy forever!

These are Hannah's three month pictures. You'll notice it is a different bear. This is the girl version of the one I used for Tyler. My good mother-in-law gave it to Hannah for Christmas. So from here on out, it is going to be the pink bear.

Would I?

I just finished reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. For such a heavy subject I was left with a feeling of warmth. The author's style of writing was actually quite refreshing. Who knew Death was so compassionate? For those of you who have read it, you will know exactly what I am talking about.

Over and over while I was reading, I kept asking myself the same questions. Would I have blindly followed? Or would I have been like Hans who did what was right because it was right, forget consequences, forget stopping to think? To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure. Fear is powerful, as are words. So I guess some didn't just blindly follow, they were afraid. I just want to make sure I'm living each day being aware of what is right and actually do it.

Discovery

The past few days Hannah has discovered her hands. No matter where she is, she is either holding her hands or sucking on her hands. I knew it was only a matter of time before she discovered her thumb. Today, she found it.


As you can tell, her new discovery makes her very happy!

Girls and Boys

Last night I was able to get together with my girls. We've been friends for almost ten years! We were at college together, all had our first babies within a few months of each other, and our second babies within months of each other too. We talk about mommy stuff, wife stuff and all sorts of other stuff. I love you Whit and Amy!


And then there is my boy. I love this little guy. He wants to be just like his Dad. Can you tell?
