I see you

Tyler is a wee-bit obsessed with glasses right now. He would wear his sunglasses in the bath, to church and to bed if I let him. Whether he needs them or not, Tyler loves wearing glasses. The other day, when I went to see what he was doing in his room, he was wearing all three of his sunglasses. Silly boy. You'll notice the mess behind him. I told him he could come out of his room once he cleaned up his toys. He was there for two hours!

Friday was Steve's birthday. It was the first night in over three weeks we were able to see each other. I just have to give a shout-out to my hubby for being two thirds of the way done with law school! I'm proud of you. Thanks to babysitters, we were able to have a wonderful Indian dinner and play at the arcade (including two games of Laser Tag). I'd never played Laser Tag before, but Steve said I should give it a try. I LOVED it. It was seriously so fun. So if any of you ever want to play, I'm game. Anyway, we ended up winning some silly black glasses for Tyler with our Ski-Ball tickets. Again, Tyler loved them. In fact, he loved the glasses so much, they were broken within 24 hours of bringing them home. I have to say my favorite picture is the bottom right. Even though he sometimes drives me bonkers, I love that boy!

So this is love

I know I've said this before, but Hannah is just my favorite little girl. I can say that because she is my only girl. I love her to pieces. I never get sick of holding her. She is growing up so fast it seems. Today was her six month check up. She is 16 lbs 12 oz (68%) and 28 inches long (98%). She had to get three shots today and only cried on the last one. Brave girl! She is right on track for her growth pattern and is developing normally, which is a blessing. She rolls all over the place, is trying to sit up, and loves food. She must be a Pulley!

I have to explain why she is without a shirt in several of the pictures. Tyler tried to help me feed Hannah carrots the other night. And by help I mean he shoved a spoon full of food in her mouth while I was pulling dinner out of the oven. Carrots were all over her shirt and face. Thank goodness for OxyClean. The other pictures of her without a shirt are because I just LOVE tickling her tummy before bed. I can't help it!

Hey, hey we're the monkeys

Ever since I was in high school, my friends and I were referred to as 'monkeys' by a certain wonderful mentor and friend. So for the last ten years or so, saying someone is a monkey is an endearing term. My kids are definitely monkeys. Tyler tells me all the time that he "actually has a plan" and it is usually dancing or something silly. Hannah sometimes spends most of the day in her car seat running errands with me and still gives you the world's biggest smile. Tyler thinks Hannah is his personal entertainer, and Hannah thinks Tyler is a Rock Star. I love my monkeys! And today, I was able to take my monkeys to see actual ones at Hogle Zoo with some cousins and aunts. Wonderful weather, good company, and seeing lots of 'monkeys.' That made for a great day!

Big boys and Bumbos

Well, Tyler is officially enrolled in Preschool for the fall. It is sort of bitter sweet. I know he'll love playing, learning and talking with other kids. I know I'll like the four hours of freedom a week. Yet, it makes me a little sad to have him be old enough for 'school.'

There is a quote by Emily Halverson that sums up my thoughts:

"My days were colored by the paradoxical perspective of not wanting life to change, yet wondering if I could bear its chaos a second longer. I'd wonder how I would make it through the next twelve hours before bedtime arrived, while worrying that those hours would never be enough to harvest all the possible joy. How could I want to fast-forward, pause, and rewind all in the same breath?"

Part of joy I found the past few days with Tyler and Hannah is in her Bumbo. Tyler sees we pay attention to Hannah in her little seat, so he needs some too. So the other night on the way to taking his bath, Tyler decided he wanted some Bumbo time. Silly, silly boy. Yeah, and Hannah rolls under our bed.

Everything from eggs to thumbs

This Easter Conference weekend was really quite fun. We spent half with Steve's sister and her fun family and the other half with my mom. It was so nice to relax, listen to uplifting words and music, make sugar cookies, have two egg hunts, and visit with family. It is no surprise that Tyler was thrilled with all the sugar and play time. What kid isn't? We truly have enough candy and sugar to feed a small nation.

Proof we really could feed a small nation with our stash! There is no way I'm going to let Tyler eat even a portion of this. Now more than ever I need some warm weather to walk off my portion of the goods!

Hannah is just as fun as ever. She was usually asleep during Easter festivities, so no pictures of her for that. She is a smiley girl who loves to suck on her thumb. If I am busy doing something with Tyler and she doesn't have her pacifier to fall asleep, she'll gladly find her thumb. She is rolling all over the place and has found that she is quite content on her tummy these days. She'll just chill on her tummy looking like a sweetie. Hannah still loves Tyler and he loves her!
